WEMSI International is an academic organisation committed to Wilderness Medicine research, training and delivery.

Which website do I need?

There are two websites for WEMSI-International.  If you are looking for information about our Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician or Wilderness Physician courses then please visit http://www.WEMSI-International.org

If you are looking for information about aspects of wilderness care then you are in the right place!   This site is where WEMSI-International put links to research papers and other documents and it is where we record our appraisal of research and opinions. So, if you want to find out more, head into The Alpine Meadow!

Disclaimer.

The opinions expressed here are simply that, opinions.  Wilderness Medicine is a diverse and complicated field.  Add to that the fact that the wilderness environment itself is so varied and it becomes obvious that following literally what is written here would be foolhardy at best and dangerous at worst.  You should have good patient assessment skills and medical and environmental knowledge and skills before you can appraise how anything written here can be applied in a particular situation.  Attending one of WEMSI-International's courses goes a long way to getting you to that place but even then, you use skills and apply knowledge at your own risk and on your own recognisance.   We are not responsible for the accuracy or applicability of any information on this website.  You should verify independently, to your own satisfaction, anything that we present.
