(This is the reference book and records the findings, papers and recommendations of the 2002 World Congress.   In English).

 

Essentials of Sea Survival, Golden F and Tipton M.   Human Kinetics, 2002.   ISBN-13: 978-0-7360-0215-8  and ISBN-10: 0-7360-0215-4

(Technical but easily readable treatise on all aspects of survival at sea.   Clear coverage of the process of drowning and cold shock.   (Some terminology predates the recommendations of the 2002 World Congress).)

(Primarily what to do in terms of kit preparation, but Chap 13 (!) covers survival in cold water.)
